FAQs

1. What is speech-language therapy?

Speech-language therapy helps individuals of all ages improve their ability to communicate and/or swallow. This may include helping children with speech delays, supporting adults after a stroke, improving social communication skills, or addressing feeding challenges in toddlers.

2. Who do you work with?

We work with infants, children, teens, and adults who are experiencing challenges with speech, language, communication, voice, or swallowing. Whether it’s a developmental delay or a condition acquired later in life, we tailor therapy to each individual’s needs.

3. Do you offer early intervention services?

Yes! We provide early intervention for children ages 0–3. Research shows that early support can make a big difference in long-term outcomes, so we’re passionate about helping little ones grow strong communication foundations.

4. What happens during an evaluation?

During an evaluation, our speech-language pathologist will get to know you (or your child), gather background information, and assess areas like speech sound production, language skills, fluency, or feeding. We then create a personalized plan based on the results and your goals.

5. How long will therapy last?

Therapy length varies depending on the individual and their goals. Some people may benefit from short-term support, while others might need longer-term services. We regularly reassess progress and communicate openly with families and caregivers.

6. Do you accept insurance?

We work with a variety of insurance providers and also offer private-pay options. Please contact us for the most up-to-date information about coverage and billing. We’re happy to walk you through the process and answer any questions.

7. Where do sessions take place?

We offer services in our Hemingford-based office and via secure telehealth, depending on what works best for your schedule and needs. Our therapy space is calm, welcoming, and designed with comfort and focus in mind.

8. What if my child is shy or nonverbal?

No worries — we meet every child where they are. Our therapists are skilled at building trust, using play-based techniques, and adapting sessions to support nonverbal or hesitant communicators. We celebrate all forms of communication, including gestures, visuals, and AAC (augmentative and alternative communication).

9. What can I do at home to support therapy?

We strongly believe in collaboration. We’ll share tips, strategies, and fun activities you can do at home to reinforce progress between sessions. Families are powerful partners in the therapy journey!
